Sweden’s Stockholm Norvik Port aims to become a CO2 handling node

05 June 2024

Stockholm Norvik Port has been granted funding to become a central hub for carbon capture and storage (CCS). This initiative aims to develop a regional, sustainable, cost-efficient infrastructure for carbon dioxide capture, interim storage and transportation in eastern Sweden.

Ports of Stockholm in partnership with other key players in the CCS sector, will conduct an in-depth study to create a detailed system solution proposal which will include risk assessments, business model development and permit evaluations. In this sense, the improvement of transportation and handling between production facilities and end capture sites would significantly contribute to Sweden's environmental goals.
