Port of Rotterdam offers reduced port fees for sustainable fuels use

10 May 2024

The Port of Rotterdam has announced that it will offer a substantial reduction in port charges to ships that refuel their vessels with sustainable fuels in the Dutch maritime hub.

In order to qualify for the new scheme, ships must be fuelled in Rotterdam with alternative fuels that reduce greenhouse gas emissions by at least 90%, such as green methanol or ammonia. However, the discount will not apply to bio-mixes of fuel oil, marine gas oil (MGO) or marine diesel oil (MDO).
