Hamburg Port Authority to develop onshore power supply (OPS) for cruise

21 May 2024

The Hamburg Port Authority (HPA) and TUI Cruises have signed a long-term cooperation agreement to supply onshore power supply (OPS) to TUI Cruise Group ships while at berth. This initiative, covers TUI Cruises ships such as the "Mein Schiff 4" and the "Mein Schiff 6" as well as Hapag-Lloyd Cruises ships such as the "Hanseatic Spirit", the "Nature" and the "Europa 2", aims to reduce the environmental impact by using renewable energy sources on shore.

This measure is very important for reducing CO2 emissions in the port of Hamburg. The first implementation of onshore power supply took place at the Altona cruise terminal with "Mein Schiff 4".
