Green corridor between the Ports of Helsinki and Tallinn

28 June 2024

Stakeholders from Finland and Estonia signed a Memorandum of Understanding in October 2023 to establish a green shipping corridor linking the Helsinki-Tallinn and Vuosaari-Muuga connections. The cities and ports of Helsinki and Tallinn, along with shipping companies and the Estonian Ministry of Climate are included in the signatories.

The Green Corridor initiative encompasses several projects promoting alternative fuels, such as liquefied natural gas (LNG) and biofuel, both offshore and onshore, in Helsinki and Tallinn, all aimed at reducing emissions and adopting zero or near-zero emission solutions. The goal is to achieve emission reduction targets earlier than previously committed to by the parties involved
