Port of Trelleborg constructs wind turbines for green energy

02 July 2024

The Port of Trelleborg, Scandinavia's largest RoRo port, has signed an agreement with the German wind power company ENERCON to construct two 120-meter-high wind turbines. This initiative is part of the port’s ambitious strategy to become a major energy hub, aiming for self-sufficiency in energy production to meet its future needs, including providing shore power for vessels.

The key initiatives include the installation of wind turbines, creating conditions for customers to reduce emissions, and providing access to green hydrogen and charging infrastructure powered by green electricity. Starting in 2030, all vessels docking at the port must connect to shore power, leading to a significant increase in energy consumption.
