Port of Oslo and the creation of a carbon capture market

21 May 2024

The Port of Oslo will soon feature a new terminal dedicated to carbon capture and storage (CCS), enabling support for customers throughout the supply chain. The facility will store CO2 generated at Celsio's waste-to-energy plant in Klemetsrud before shipping it to the Northern Lights terminal in Øygarden on the west coast for export.

The Celsio CCS project and the Northern Lights storage initiative are integral parts of Longship, the Norwegian government's carbon capture and storage (CCS) project. Longship also encompasses the capture of CO2 emissions from Heidelberg Materials' cement plant in Brevik.
